Thank you, we do appreciate the good wishes.  People always feel helpless when someone dies and are at a loss for words, but just simple words like "I'm sorry" and sending sympathy and condolences really does help. 

It's so appalling at how ugly people can get when they "want" something. Sheesh.

My father-in-law died on Sunday afternoon.  It was very unexpected.  By Sunday evening, my husband's step sister had already called to say that somebody better be looking for a will, and we found out the next day that her brother had been in touch with the people that my father in law was living with to let them know that Dad promised them his car if anything ever happened to him.  Could they wait for the ink on the death certificate to be dry before showing up at the door with their booty-bags open?  Could they wait for the funeral arrangements to be made, for the people close to him to deal with their shock and initial grief before they loot the body?  Dad had a car, his personal possessions (all the stuff in his room) and an insurance policy, and a grave plot.  These are step children who did not grow up in Dad's house and never knew him as their dad.  They were already adults when he married their mother.  The person, a cousin, who was looking after Dad has had her hands full this week.  Her beloved uncle died.  She has to go through his things looking for a will, for any written instructions he may have left, for the deeds and titles to what little he had, help plan a funeral and one of her daughters has a wedding this weekend, did she really need phone calls making demands, and people talking behind her back about not trusting her to fulfill Dad's wishes? I think not.  Since Dad is having his ashes placed in his wife's grave, he will not be using the cemetary plot.  I think it should go to the step-children with the stipulation that if they don't use it in a month, they lose it.  Or just have it opened and kick them in at Dad's final memorial service (he had one in Delaware, too).  Want, want, want, want.  All I want is to be able to say "I love you." one last time.

Honestly I get the feeling it's not his. She has yet to give him a paternity test. She doesn't feel somfortable doing it pre-natal. So when she gives birth in November we'll all see if he's still a daddy I guess. I really worry about that boy....

I suppose that just makes her doubly-retarded, then. I hope she has a miscarriage and has to have a hysterectomy. Stupid people shouldn't breed.
